Part of the charm of the shows is how hard they worked on the effects! Hand puppets! The hysterically funny looking monster alien in The Architects Of Fear! I love the face on that one! The two theme songs & the music during the shows is fabulous! howiecricket52https://www.blogger.com/profile/04568965336005452543noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8535833613343533564.post-52167044183840290842014-11-29T19:36:11.867-08:002014-11-29T19:36:11.867-08:00The Wasp (Janet Van Dyne), partner of Ant-Man (Hen...The Wasp (Janet Van Dyne), partner of Ant-Man (Henry Pym) was created entirely by JACK KIRBY. I love the look of this show (the garden, the camera work surrounding Regina), the idea we might NOT be the only intelligent things around, the great score. Marsha Hunt as Francesca, is such a sharp contrast to Joanna Frank's Regina (i.e. when they're talking at dinner about our fear of insects), both lovely ladies in different ways.Jim Barwisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06621993116774388708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8535833613343533564.post-19079202971830088782011-02-01T07:12:57.540-08:002011-02-01T07:12:57.540-08:00Saw that in Justman's script breakdown, LR, th...Saw that in Justman's script breakdown, LR, thanks.

I'd never heard of Great Ghost Tales, probably because it wasn't syndicated and David and I were a bit too young to watch it during broadcast; I'll ask our older brothers, they might remember it. I remember it like it was yesterday. In fact, 3 months earlier--in June '61---I was able to stand my ground in front of the TV and make it through the final nerve-wracking scene of Thriller's "Pigeons from Hell"...but on September 7th, 1961, I had to bolt from the room when that headless skeleton began to rise from its coffin in a decrepit, cob-webbed, mideastern hotel room. YOW!

Those kinescopes MUST still exist in the NBC vaults. Thriller had gone into high gear during its first-season closing, so NBC quickly threw together "Thriller Light" (aka Great Ghost Tales) as a summer replacement for Tennesee Ernie Ford's show. "Ghost Tales" was supposedly the very last show to be shot live on video in New York City---50 years ago this summer.

LRLarry Rapchaknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8535833613343533564.post-64372929460723646032011-01-31T20:48:01.855-08:002011-01-31T20:48:01.855-08:00If we could ever get hold of those old Kinescopes ...If we could ever get hold of those old Kinescopes (was in NBC?) has in their vaults, I could go for the 13 days of GREAT GHOST TALES, creepy summer-filler from 1961.

Few have seen them, since they were retired as too few for syndication-fodder. I live in Trenton, NJ and I'm waiting now for the next storm to hit tomorrow or Wednesday. I too, love the growlers but the snow is preventing me from buying them and I have to fall back on European beers in the bottles. I no longer can drink the water that American distributers sell, like Bud, Coors, Miller.

I hear the topic of the next show is in limbo now because Peter went crazy after seeing "ZZZZZ". I've always found it impossible to dismiss this episode, even if what's good about it is obscured by silly science and set-bound cheapitude (but enhanced by, for my money, The Outer Limits' Babe of All Time). Some cogent arguments for a episode I've enjoyed--not as a favorite--but on an admittedly superficial level (a strange dreamlike fantasy with a magnetic central presence).

Interesting points re: the hybrid nature of the script being in its favor and the show's context among other OUTER LIMITS episodes.

Good stuff!Larry Blamirenoreply@blogger.com
